I tried an mpeg-4 clip and I can't transcode that either. Can you specify a clip that I *can* transcode???

It depends on you codecs. Uninstall all and install those in DOWNLOADS thread.

I processed a .m2ts clip successfully with no transcoding. This is the first time a video clip has played on the BD35.
I was hoping to buy a camcorder that creates .mp4's that I could play (processed) on the BD35. I need to find out why transcode never seems to work first.

Thanks for your help Dean. I've just installed a new very comprehensive codec pack (K-Lite) on my computer.
I'm sorry I really don't understand what you mean. Do the codecs go in the multiAVCHD program or do you just want me to uninstall my current codec pack and try, at random, another pack? Seems that could go on forever.
Is DOWNLOADs a folder?
Frank

FYI my proposed flash camcorder (Sanyo Xacti) uses the AVC/H.264 codec for .mp4 clips. Should be good, no?

Do you have all required files Matroskasplitter, ffdshow & avithynth.
You also may need to convert the file to a different format b4
using the AVCHD program. Try the free edition of "Any Video Converter" program. Don't have a link. Sorry. I've had success with .mpg files.

What other file format would be better than AVC/H.264? That *is* the format that the player is supposed to recognize.
Could you please tell me what file formats and codecs you have had success in being read?? That would be a huge help. As for those other programs you mentioned I will look into them and try to understand what they do and why they are necessary.
Your help to now is greatly appreciated.
Frank

Your file probably will work. I believe the multiavchd website has links to the files
I referred to in my last post. You may need to review the tutorial.

SUCCESS! Dean, you really do have a terrific program here, just took me a while to figure out what was going on!
As per log instructions I changed the .mov extension to .mp4 on my GO-HD-generated clips, and they processed correctly! Also, thanks to T-Barth for your support.
